"Will Computers Really
Decentralize the
Economy"?
Introduction:-
The term decentralization is a
process of dispersing decision
making governance closer to
the people or citizens.
Computer decentralization
means when a computer
communicates with
autonomous computers to
perform the same task. In the
present scenario economy is
more computers decentralized
as the price of the hardware,
software has decreased. Almost
all the organizations are
adopting computer resources as
a central facility. There are
various examples of
decentralization like electronic
financial systems and
institutions, business and
governments.
Discussion:-
The structure of computing is
just one aspect of structure of
the organization. If the
computers distribute correctly
then the decentralization
system allows more flexibility
for growth of capacity and
functions in the organizations.
The computers serve as a tool
for global communication
where the export and import of
manufactured goods between
and among countries
businesses are being arranged
as communication through
electronic mails or emails travel
as fast as the speed of light.
Take the giant American
retailer Wal-Mart. Today, it
enjoys a competitive advantage
because of its superb
computerized supply-chain
management, which gives it
sophisticated control of its
supply chain at a low cost per
item sold. Moreover, the
Sunday Times who has tried to
run an Internet magazine or
who compares the times
lifestyle and culture sections
with what gets printed in
regional newspapers, will be
forced to admit this is true. In
this lies the times true
remaining competitive
advantage. As in the climate
change crises there has been
abrupt evidence that the State
is failing to effectively manage
our environmental resources.
Decentralization offers an
alternative solution as theory
states. It aims to increase
popular participation to
promote more equitable and
efficient forms of local
management and development
that key to effective
decentralization is increase
broad-based participation in
local public decision making
Lastly, as the cost of the
hardware are cheaper which
allows decentralization by the
lower level managers. Computer
advances make easier to
aggregate vast numbers of
things, like retail purchases at
Wal-Mart, are a centralizing
force, when this aggregation
does something economically
useful, like enable the
development of an existing
economy of scale.
Conclusion:-
The advent of computers has
markedly improved our
economy and standards of daily
living as business, commerce
and global trade has flourished
at unprecedented rate over the
past decades. The statement the
computers really decentralized
the economy because it has
significantly increased the
utilization of resources which in
turn resulted to a big deluge of
output.
